The infection rate is lower than it has been in months, but even today with Covid vaccinations in full swing, the CDC is asking those who are fully vaccinated to continue to wear their masks in public places. At this rate, will we ever see a future without face masks?

What Medical Experts Say About the Future of Face Masks

Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Chief Medical Adviser for the White House’s Covid-19 response, said that America may reach a significant degree of normality’ by end of 2021. He expects it to be much different than where we were during the winter of 2020. However, Fauci also said that it’s pretty likely that Americans may have to continue to wear face masks in 2022 due to the Coronavirus. After hearing about Fauci’s comments, we predict that the world may be open like it once was, but face masks would still be in play.

Fauci also says that we should not stop wearing face masks until the majority of Americans are vaccinated. He stated, “If you combine getting most of the people in the country vaccinated with getting the level of virus in the community very, very low, then I believe you’re going to be able to say, you know, for the most part, we don’t necessarily have to wear masks.”

This would be a difficult feat to achieve, as the vaccines are voluntary for the public and not required. Could enforcing a mass vaccination be the key to returning to normal life? For now, it seems like we will have to wait and see what our new President Biden has planned out for our nation’s recovery from COVID-19.
